It also makes discovery of nearby things like places to visit or eat super easy. When travelling to a new city on vacation, you can look up places to see and then chalk up routes to visit them based on proximity from each other. These routes can be saved or shared. Allowing me to search routes, including multistop routes, and then export them to my phone, is very helpful. Most useful, I think, are these functions: (1) being able to search a term, not just an addres se.g. "bus stops" or "shopping" - and have them highlighted (including bus routes, etc) is fantastic. (2) Being able to set modes of transport especially walking, and (3) remembering my parking spot, are major bonuses OVER Waze. (4) displaying the local speed limit, and pinging if I exceed it, keeps my on the right side of the law. Overall, a really easy, useful app. I should also add, it's also easier to add multiple stops on a route, which I like. > > **Puntos en contra**: Sometimes, changing your mind and wanting to go back and enter a different route/destination is not as intuitive as I'd like. When using my Android phone for GPS, e.g., in a hire car, the font cannot be made larger. This means that someone like me, who wears reading glasses, must drive with my glasses on/off to read street names and route numbers. I wish they could be bigger. One last ask - a compass needle to show direction, would be useful. > > Overall, I prefer this 70/30 over Waze for daily use. This application is free for anyone to use so long as they have internet access. It's very simple to understand, just type in what you're looking for an let Google Maps do the rest. For example, if you're looking for a Pizza place, just type in Pizza and Google Maps will get you the location of all the Pizza places near you. It will tell you how far away, and it will even give you turn by turn instructions of how to get their on foot, bike, or car. Thanks to the support of the people who use Google Maps, you'll find users leaving helpful reviews to help you determine good businesses from bad business. Google Maps even has a program to reward good reviewers by making them Local Guides which there's ten levels of. The more pictures and reviews you leave as a Local Guide, the more points you get towards leveling up. If you see inconsistencies in a map, you can always suggest an edit to help update the map. Google Maps isn't just a simple map. It's a constantly changing/updating Maps that serves as a major convenience to the user's day to day life. I speak as a Level 8 local guide myself. Being a dedicated I phone user I have tried apple maps and google is just so much clearer. Everyone knows 'Google maps' We live in a semi rural location and often buy things on Facebook marketplace.
