Zoola is a much-needed business intelligence tool enabling LMS instructors and administrators to develop advanced reporting capabilities for Moodle and Totara. With the rapid uptake of eLearning in corporate training, the need to tame the wealth of data generated by an LMS has outgrown the basic functionality present in the Moodle/Totara platforms. Zoola allows for full access to all data present in the LMS database through custom ad hoc queries, easy report development/formatting and dashboards. A real strength is the ability to use custom SQL queries to derive useful data tables for analysis. Zoola has a wealth of built-in tools for graphing data to generate engaging reports and dashboards. As part of the Zoola software, Lambda Solutions has created an extensive catalog of queries and reports that address many of the advanced reporting needs faced by eLearning providers. This makes reporting as simple as clicking on a report and selecting any specific filters for the data before saving the results in one of many formats, including PDF, Excel or CSV. Since the software is hosted by Lambda Solutions, maintenance and upgrades are never a worry.

From an end-user perspective, Lambda Solutions has one of the best customer support programs I've ever encountered. Support requests are immediately addressed and they consistently go above and beyond to provide assistance. The Zoola software has extensive online documentation, training videos and example use cases to get users up and running quickly. As part of the LMS implementation process, Lambda Solutions engages with customers to fully understand the business needs and was critical to our smooth and successful system launch (ahead of schedule!). Lambda Solutions also maintains a very strong user community with regular meetings to learn more about the software and to provide feedback.

The only negative is that some users of Zoola may be intimidated by the advanced capabilities offered through the custom ad hoc queries that can involve writing SQL. However, this should really be viewed as a strength. For many users, the existing queries/reports are more than enough and Lambda Solutions is very responsive in developing new reports based on user feedback. Having the advanced querying capability with SQL allows for future growth in organizations when skills and data needs grow to enable further use from the system without having to look at another platform to meets their requirements.
